We held our first interviews on Friday. Met some pretty amazing people, too. It was neat to show them around the disaster zone… “this is where you’ll be eating,” “this is where we’ll have our indoor swimming pool.” I really do like meeting people who are excited to start from the ground up. There’s a certain spirit about them. A certain belief in creating a great program from scratch. Crystal and I know that we need to hire amazing people to do their job better than we ever could. Having a few of these great minds come together to design a program better and more involved… well, I can’t wait to see what they come up with. The feeling of collaboration already is pretty amazing… and we haven’t even hired anyone yet.
We will be getting more accurate numbers for our construction budget come early next week. Cutting here, adding there, cutting there, adding here. It’s like a puzzle of funds. And let’s all be honest with each other, who doesn’t like a good puzzle?
Construction insurance kicked in yesterday, so “for real” demolition starts Tuesday. Did someone say Wrecking Party? Wanna literally put your blood, sweat, and tears in some of the drywall? Say the word. If you get hurt, we’ll just drag you to the curb and say you fell off your bike… no biggy.
Crys is sitting across from me looking at lighting fixtures… for the past 73 hours straight. Even if you don’t like them, just pretend.
Our floor plan is being put into Revit, so we’ll be able to show people around the building… like a video game. So there’s that going for us, which is nice. That office should be up and running by the end of next week. Come by and see us.
