¿Cómo se dice orange county?

We are excited to introduce a new Spanish Dual-Language component to the Piper Orange County experience.

What does this mean for our children?

Our Johnnies, Rubies, and Bluebells will enjoy a more enriching preschool experience, as we add a Spanish-speaking teacher in every classroom. Research has shown that learning another language not only encourages a child to appreciate diversity, but also promotes overarching development in all languages.

How does it work?

Children learn languages through immersion, stories, and songs from a very early age. The more they hear, the more their languages grow… this is true in all languages. With that, each preschool classroom will have a Spanish-speaking teacher join the English-speaking team, promoting dedicated interactions in both English and Spanish. A focused introduction of Spanish receptive language skills in familiar situations and routines, will be used for beginning vocabulary. Children begin by learning actions responding to verbal direction… wash your hands = lavate las manos. Our approach creates a link between speech and action to boost language development. As they absorb the meaning, they’ll inherently adopt the language through movement.

Our teachers will support social and emotional development in English to meet the intention of fully processing those needs throughout the day. Likewise, children embracing English for the first time will continue to have a primary focus on English development.

As always, we are excited to introduce our newest experience in our preschool divisions and thrilled to add this component to the Piper OC experience.
